Panther Passage Validator Information
The role of a validator is to actively listen to each student's presentation, ask questions, and provide only positive written feedback to each individual.
Validators are teamed with another adult volunteer and typically will listen to 2 or 3 students' presentations during their Panther Passage shift. Each presentation lasts between 10 - 20 minutes. Some students will focus on academics while others might discuss their accomplishments in fine arts, community service or athletics. Some will not have a presentation prepared but will be ready to answer questions that will be provided to the validator to ask.
The presentations are as unique as the individuals. When you arrive you will receive a list of the students that are scheduled to present in your room. Please alert the hostess if you know any of the students so that a change can be made. This will avoid any potential discomfort for you or the student.
We ask that you keep all comments and questions positive - that you "validate" their experiences. This is a time to focus on their accomplishments and successes. After all the Panther Passage presentations are completed, the validators' completed forms will be given back unedited to the 8th graders. Your supportive responses are highly valued by the students and will be read carefully.
Panther Passage has proven to be a very positive experience for both the students and the volunteers.
